Felíz Día de Acción de Gracias

Happy Thanksgiving! This week we took a little break from the weather and talked about Thanksgiving and learned some new Thanksgiving vocabulary like pavo, familia, and gracias (turkey, family, and thank you). We made our own Thanksgiving "pavos" with things we are thankful for written in Spanish.

El Tiempo

(Third graders at Washington Township brainstorming weather ideas:)

This week we started working on saying weather terms and giving a daily forecast. We sang a song that has to do with weather and played a game of weather bingo. The third graders will be making their own weather forecast. They will present their weather segments to the class and will be videotaped. They have been working very hard on writing a script and coming up with a creative presentation. More information and pictures to come! Ask your child to explain in Spanish what the weather conditions are like. ¡Ten un buen día! Have a great day!

Los 4 Estaciones

This week we have been learning the four seasons winter, spring summer, and fall (invierno, primavera, verano y otoño). We have identified differences in each season and shared what season our birthday is in. We are now working on weather words. We had some dramatic weather this week with the first snowflakes so we share each day what the weather and temperature is like. We have been singing songs and will soon by playing a game of "Weather Bingo". Next week we will keep working on different kinds of weather including doing our own weather forecast.

Trabajando Juntos (Working together)

In Spanish we often work together in groups which helps students improve their oral language development and gives them skills on how to work well with others. This week each class went through a variety of stations as groups and worked together on each activity. At the beginning of each class students ask each other greeting questions such as "How are you?" "What is your name?".

This week we have been learning about the months of the year and we are starting to look at seasons and weather. Ask your child to tell you the date in Spanish! ¡Ten un buen día! Have a good day!
